Tick season is in full force during warmer periods. What steps are you taking to prevent tick bites naturally, whether indoors or outdoors? There are so many suggestions to try and we show you how to avoid tick bites naturally - the easy way.
Do These To Prevent Tick Bites Naturally Before Leaving the House
- Wear long-sleeved shirts and long trousers. Even if you do come in contact with ticks, they won’t be able to latch on to your skin. It’s also wise to wear light-colored clothing. That way, if ticks do latch on to your clothing, they can be easily seen.
- Wear long socks. Neatly tuck your trousers in your socks.
- Wear a pair of gloves. Any gloves will do, except for plastic or latex gloves. Choose something that’s light and soft, preferably something you won’t have to struggle in should you assume outdoor work.
- Cover the hair. If you’re a female or male with long hair, the best practice is to cover up with a hat. However, if that’s not an option, pull the hair up in a bun.
- Wear closed-toe shoes.
Note: While the above are the most natural ways to avoid tick bites, you will get maximum protection if you choose to treat your clothing before leaving the house. To tick-proof, your clothing, use at least 0.5 percent permethrin or according to specifics on the label.
